Adjunct EMDR Therapy for Clinicians & Their Clients

Collaborative trauma care for clients who need specialized support

When Trauma Work Isn’t Your Specialty... Let’s Partner

As a dedicated therapist, you care deeply about your clients—but when trauma symptoms like flashbacks, dissociation, or persistent negative beliefs arise, you may feel uncertain about how to proceed. You don’t want to refer them out entirely, but also know trauma work isn’t your core focus.

Good news: you don’t have to choose. You can do both.

Adjunct EMDR Therapy offers a collaborative solution—where your client receives targeted trauma care without ending their work with you.

What Is adjunct EMDR Therapy?

Adjunct EMDR Therapy is a short-term, focused intervention designed to support clients through trauma processing while maintaining continuity with their primary therapist. It allows two professionals to work in parallel, leveraging complementary strengths for better outcomes.

Clients work with an EMDR therapist for a set number of sessions focused on trauma, then return to their primary therapy. With the client’s consent, both therapists can collaborate on treatment planning and progress monitoring.

  • I believe EMDR can be beneficial for most clients. However, it tends to be most effective when a client can manage difficult emotions and remain grounded within their window of tolerance. We will work on resourcing skills in the beginning of our work, but clients that can remain present have an easier time with the EMDR experience while highly dissociative clients may have more difficulty.
